Review:
Audrey's Magic Nine (Book one) follows a little girl name Audrey. She is in the foster care system when we first meet her. She is a young girl who expresses herself through her sketchbooks and drawings and she is really good. We follow her as she is adopted but still has fears, and she hears some weird noises in her new home. The different is now she has the help of a magical puppet, something that was hers when she was dropped off in the care of the group home. The puppet asks for her help locating his friends to help her defeat the monsters she has been hearing.

In the first book, we meet the main character, Audrey, a shy girl who is learning to adapt into her new life. The reader is shown her life from her point of view but also some snippets of her adoptive parents views and how they see her. We learn about the puppets and how they got to be that way and then we meet the first three puppets.

I really liked that Audrey's drawings are showcased throughout the graphic novel, they add another element of fantasy to the already fantastical story line. The puppets are a creative way to incorporate magical creatures as well. I really liked that this book, even though it is for a middle grade audience had to many layers to it. I enjoyed it quite a bit as an adult reader and am looking forward to more in this series.
